Base44 and Lovable can both build and deploy full-stack web apps. Choose Base44 when you want the fewest infrastructure decisions and the most business capabilities under one roof. Choose Lovable when polished product design, backend choice and a developer-friendly Git handoff matter more. Base44 combines a managed database, authentication, storage, functions, automations, app agents, connectors, testing tools, analytics and hosting in one opinionated system. Lovable combines a polished prompt-led workflow with either its built-in Lovable Cloud backend or Supabase, plus two-way GitHub and GitLab sync and external deployment options.
The trade-off is control versus coordination, not “closed platform versus code ownership.” Base44 now provides direct React/Vite code access, GitHub sync, local development and an eject path. Its harder boundary is the managed backend: an eject can reproduce schemas and resources, but production data and Base44-specific services still need a migration plan. Lovable makes standard code handoff especially straightforward, but moving away from Lovable Cloud is not a one-click backend migration either. For a non-technical owner building a portal, workflow or internal system, Base44 is usually the faster operational fit. For a founder building a customer-facing web product that may move into a conventional development team, Lovable is often the stronger middle path. Both still require real testing, security review and careful production setup.
